Spain is a committed to the Hague Apostille Convention, hence any document from Spain must be apostilled before it may be used in another signatory nation. On September 25, 1978, Spain ratified the Hague Apostille Convention.

Apostille is not recognised in the UAE if the original language of the documents issued in Spain is Spanish. The original certificates must first undergo background checks through the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Justice before being authenticated at the UAE Embassy in Madrid. Finally, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs will legalise it.

The documents must then be translated into Arabic or English as necessary.

Process of Spanish Certificate Attestation:

  • Ministry of Education or notary in Spain
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Spain or an Apostille
